The Myrtle Beach Rotary Club Announces Fall Concert
Doug LaBrecque sings Hollywood Hits with special guest Shayna Steele
The Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach has announced that its fall concert will be held Saturday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach High School Performing Arts Center.
Returning to the stage will be Doug LaBrecque, a Rotary favorite, who has been described as one of the most prolific concert singers of his generation. Performing along with LaBrecque will be singer, songwriter, and Broadway actress, Shayna Steele. The duo, accompanied by the Long Bay Symphony, will perform a variety of Hollywood hits.
LaBrecque has performed with some of the world’s finest orchestras and pop groups including the Chicago Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, the Israel Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Boston Pops.
In addition, he has starred in several Broadway productions including The Phantom of the Opera, the revival of Showboat and Les Misérables.
Steele, whose soul-infused sound blends shades of blues with heavy jazz influences, has earned accolades from both music critics and fans. She has been described as ‘nothing short of amazing.”
“We are happy to announce our fall concert,” said Don Hovis, President of the Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach. “Doug and Shayna are talented performers and are well received by concert goers. Their name on the marquee almost guarantees a sold-out performance.”
Since its inception over a decade ago, Rotary’s concert series has raised over $250,000 in sponsorships and ticket sales. These funds have provided assistance to New Directions of Horry County, Boys and Girls Club of the Grand Strand, United Way of Horry County, Help 4 Kids/Backpack Buddies, American Red Cross, and Savannah’s Playground, to name a few. Net proceeds from the upcoming concert are earmarked for Polio Plus, Rotary’s global initiative that to date has helped eradicate polio cases by 99.9%.
Tickets for the November 2 concert range from $40-$50 each and may be purchased through the Long Bay Symphony online at www.LongBaySymphony.com or by calling 843-448-8379.
