In what may be a first, the Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach hosted a graduation ceremony for Maddy Scholar, a Rotary Global Grant Scholar who recently returned from her adventures in Manchester, England.
Maddy lived in Manchester for nearly a year before coronavirus cut her time in England short. However, she was able to finish her program from her home in Georgia. She received a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Manchester and graduated with distinction. Before receiving the Rotary grant, Maddy attended Coastal Carolina University where she received her bachelor’s degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude. At Coastal, she published multiple chapters in various books, participated in a fellowship, and graduated in three years.
Maddy enjoys an active lifestyle which includes mixed martial arts, bull riding, scuba diving, and shooting. She currently resides with her parents and younger brother in Marietta, Georgia and is looking forward to beginning her career. Maddy’s graduation ceremony (in person and via Zoom) was spearheaded by Myrtle Beach Rotarian, David Parsons, and attended by club members and Rotarians throughout District 7770.
