On the club’s 7:30am meeting at Grady’s Restaurant this past week, Michael Snyder shows Club President Jackie Jenkins the Back-Pack Buddies load of food in his truck.
Without fanfare, the loaded vehicle with 564 food item packages, was seen by other Rotarians. Thus, Michael was observed living out the Rotary
Motto: “Service above Self”. Our community is a better place to live because of the selfless service of Michael. For years Michael, without reservations, has loaded his Suburban up every month with food secured from the Lowcountry Food Bank for the purpose of providing healthy food treats to low-income students who would be hard pressed for weekend nutrition. Rotarian Kara Pendarvis voluntarily shared with the club Michael’s single-handed hard work efforts. With the assistance of school Interact advisers and students, this food is disseminated to deserving students within the three school areas: Dorchester Academy, Dorchester School District Four and Dorchester County Career School.
When confronted with celebratory praise from the Club, Michael shyly said “well, I only do what I know needs to be done. This is how we achieve
Peace through Service.”
