Originally from Nashville/Murfreesboro, Tenn., Travis E. Overton has worked for Coastal Carolina University since July 2007. He currently serves as the vice president for executive initiatives and chief of staff. his duties include supervision of CHANT411, Information Technology Services, Scheduling and Event Services, Special Events and Title IX, as well as assisting the Office of the President with special projects.
Prior to this he served as vice president of student rights and responsibilities/dean of students, and has vast experience in various areas of student affairs. He is a member of the National Association for Presidential Assistants in Higher Education (NAPAHE), Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA) and Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA). He also served as the 2017 ASCA Annual Conference chair.
Travis went over the history of CCU, which was founded in 1993, and their current strategic plan as well as what attracts many northern students to the university and the greater Myrtle Beach area. The club was also updated on several projects by the university including the installation of a median to increase safety during traffic crossings along 544, a highway by the university, and the university partnership and participation in the renovation of downtown Myrtle Beach.
