Zones 33/34 Social Media Chair.
We started this Rotary Year with an emphasis on growing Social Media within Zones 33/34 – specifically
Facebook. We have recognized several advantages of zoning in on Facebook, not the least of
which are below:
It’s Immediate – Half of all Facebook users are checking it on their Mobile Devices. Half of Facebook
users are also logging on to it at least twice a day, rendering it in many cases, a more immediate
reach than email!
Broad Influence – Last year almost 200 billion minutes and 25% of all time spent online was on
Social Media, most of that on Facebook.
Easy – It’s so easy to use, the fastest growing demographic is the 55-65 year old segment.
Free – It’s Free. Need I say more?
Loyalty – Studies suggest that customers who follow a company on Social Media are more likely
to be loyal to them. How can we use this information within Rotary?
We started the Rotary year off at 400 members on our Zone Facebook Page. Given the vast number
of Rotarians within the Zone, and also friends of the Zone, we feel this number is not near its true
potential. We are therefore implementing a challenge at launch dubbed “The 1000 Member Challenge.”
The idea is we set a realistic goal, and get every current member of the page to help get others
on board, and help us reach this first great milestone step!
